Christ-centred, Spirit-filled music which blends traditional
hymns, old-time gospel favourites and contemporary praise choruses. Our worship is often enriched by special music provided by Minto members or singers from the community.

NOW HIRING- Music Director

Music Directors Job Description:

Introduction: Our congregation enjoys music from a range of cultures and of diverse musical styles.  The Music Director must work well within a collaborative environment, and is expected to have good interpersonal skills, be positive and encourage participation in the music program.

Accountability:
The Music Director will work under the direct guidance and with the assistance from the Worship Church Growth Committee. The Worship Church Growth committee receives their direction from the Minto Church Board.

The Ministry and Personnel committee will perform an annual performance review.

Suggestions, complaints concerns or criticisms regarding the performance of the Music Director will be referred directly to the Worship and Church Growth Committee chairperson.

Position Requirements:

Administrative Level:

-Serve as an ox-official member of the Worship Church Growth committee and attend monthly meetings.

-At bi-monthly Worship Church Growth committee meetings, review recent music endeavours and report plans for any upcoming special music projects.

-Develop a music budget in consultation with the Worship and Church Growth Committee and update and maintain a musical library for Minto United Church

-Provide the music for the service as requested by the ministerial staff.

-Meet weekly with the ministerial staff as well as the power point team to discuss needs and requirements for the weekly services

-For the power point presentation (each week):

-Type and prepare all praise choruses and hymns for the power point

-Review and proofread music power point slides

-Work closely with the Multimedia team in consultation with power point

-Monitor and track hours worked weekly

-Oversee the care and use of all of the church musical instruments

-Support and direct any church musical functions

-Meet with the other music directors from the United Churches in Moose Jaw to coordinate ecumenical services (ex, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday Services)

-Participate regularly in personal/professional development within reporting structure (ie church choral workshops etc…)

Non-Administrative Level

-Ensure that a balance of musical styles is offered on a regular basis incorporating traditional hymns, old time gospel songs and current contemporary praise choruses to create a blended service

-Work with the staff, volunteers and a wide spectrum of the congregation to develop music that is inclusive and participatory

-Recruit, develop and coordinate adult and youth ensembles, special groups and individuals required for all ministry of music throughout the year.  Work closely with Children’s choir leader, youth ministry leader and oversee any related music offered during regular worship services.

-Provide or arrange for competent replacement during sickness, holidays or other leaves of absence.

-Provide or arrange for accompaniment for: weekly Sunday worship services weekly practices as required, singers for outreach visits as required, weddings and funerals as requested.

-Prepare for and conduct weekly and Sunday morning practices as well as practices for special presentations.

-Provide leadership to the Worship Team and to the choir ensuring they are fulfilling their responsibility to lead all the songs, praise choruses, and hymns.

-The Music Director is encouraged to invite the Worship Team to share their ministry of music in the community as time permits and opportunities arise (ie: guest appearances at other churches etc…). The Music Director is encouraged to invite various music groups and individuals from other churches to share their music at Minto throughout the year.

-Have knowledge of the Christian faith and of music and transmit the importance of the pastoral role of music to the congregation.

-Be a positive pastoral role model for the choir, Worship Team and the Musicians in attendance
